WHY BUY TRAVEL INSURANCE

You probably don't want to think about it and no one wants to discourage you by talking about it, but the fact is that travel involves some unique risks that are often beyond your control.

Think about it. If you are like most Americans, a vacation is the largest investment you will ever make, next to the purchase of a house and car. You insure your home and car - are you willing to gamble with your vacation when you have hundreds, or even thousands of dollars at risk?

  1. Most travel insurance companies have a trip cancellation/interruption/delay. Some of the reasons can be;
    Injury, Sickness or death to Yourself, an Immediate Family Member, Travel Companion or a Business Partner, Involved in an auto accident en route to departure. Serious damage to your residence from fire, flood or natural disaster.
  2. Baggage/Personal Effects: Reimbursement of loss, less depreciation, usually a Maximum limit.
  3. Baggage Delay: Reimbursement for expenses fo necessary personal effects up to the maximum, Normally more than 24 hours you arrive at your destination shown on your ticket.
  4. Accident & Sickness, Medical Expenses; The insurer usually will pay benefits up to the maximum shown on the Schedule of Coverage's if you incur necessary covered medical expenses for treatment of a sickness or an accidental injury.  Some rules apply.
  5. Covered Expenses; Some of the covered expense can be necessary services and supplies, which are recommended by the attending Physician.  These are x-rays, treatment and laboratory tests, ambulance service, drugs, medicines and therapeutic services and supplies.  Usually pay reasonable and customary charges are commonly used.
  6. American International Assistance is usually 24-hour telephone service; they can give you the necessary information required before leaving the country.  Immunization requirements state department and private service warnings on travel to certain locations, weather and hazard information about foreign locations, medical exams or treatment before departure and medical care en route.
  7. Worldwide emergency assistance service: Depending on the destination and situation, this service may be able to provide; Travel Medical Emergency Services, Legal Assistance, Emergency Ticketing Service, Emergency Cash Transfers and Advances, and General Assistance.
  8. Emergency Evacuation: This type of insurance is very important if you plan to go out of the USA. Emergency evacuation means: Your medical condition warrants immediate transportation from where you are injured or sick to the nearest hospital where appropriate medical  treatment can be obtained, or after being treated at a local hospital, your medical conditions warrants transportation to the US or Canada where you reside to obtain further medical treatment or to recover.
  9. Transportation: This can mean any land, water or air conveyance required to transport you during an emergency evacuation. No limited to air or land ambulances and private motor vehicles.
  10. Repatriation of Remains: Most insurers will pay the reasonable covered expenses incurred to return your body to the US or Canada if you die. This will not exceed the maximum shown on the Schedule of Coverage's. Covered Expense can include, but are not limited to, expenses for embalming, cremation, coffins and transportation.
  11. Travel Accident Protection Accidental Death & Dismemberment. Some policies cover this subject.
  12. Pre-existing Condition Exclusion, in most insurance companies, you have a limit as to purchasing this coverage. It must be purchased by the time you make your initial deposit. Check with the policy you are purchasing.
  13. Exclusions: There are much exclusion, the policy will tell you what they are.
  14. Claims: You will notify the insurance company you select and they will send you the forms to fill out.
  15. Beneficiary: Your estate will be the beneficiary unless you provide written notice of change.
  16. Term of Coverage: Usually the day you start your trip and the return date is the end of the policy coverage.

Remember that your vacation should be a time of relaxation, you shouldn't have to worry about what might go wrong. This product offers peace of mind while you travel, and protection from possible financial loss if something unexpected occurs.
